World Breakfast All Day is a cafe based on the concept of "discovering the world through breakfast," where you can enjoy a menu that changes every two months. From June 5th to August 5th, Lithuanian breakfast will be available at two locations in Tokyo's Gaienmae and Harajuku districts.

Lithuanian Breakfast (1,500 yen)

Lithuania is a small country in northeastern Europe located on the Baltic Sea coast. Its mountainless, flat land is filled with forests and lakes, and the Lithuanian people love spending time in nature. Because the harsh cold prevents crops from growing abundantly, Lithuania has a food culture of gathering natural bounty like mushrooms and berries in the forests during the summer, growing vegetables and herbs in gardens, and preserving them for winter. In June and July, we'll explore this culture through breakfast.


Bread is the staple food in Lithuania, and dark rye bread is a common choice. However, potatoes, which were introduced in the late 18th century, are also eaten as a staple food. Potato pancakes made with grated potatoes are a classic Lithuanian recipe. After waking up early to go mushroom hunting in the forest, the freshly picked mushrooms and berries are served at the breakfast table. The menu features a cream sauce made with chanterelle mushrooms and other mushrooms popular in Lithuania, sautéed with sour cream and bacon, a salad made with garden-grown radishes and spring onions, and "vorske," a fresh cheese curd popular in Lithuania, a country rich in dairy products.


In addition to breakfast, the menu for this Lithuanian-themed period also includes classic Lithuanian drinks such as "shaltybarschai," a pink chilled soup made with beets and kefir, "gira," a fermented drink unique to Lithuania, and fresh herbal tea, as well as desserts such as "medopilaga," a honey cake, and "voslikepilaga," a cheesecake made with vorske.
