Nike will release new sneakers from the "Nike BETRUE Collection 2018" on June 6th, which reexamines the past and transforms it into power for the future.


The collection features designs incorporating colors and symbols that have long been used with meaning by the LGBTQ community, such as lavender, pink, and triangles. Lavender, a blend of light blue and pale pink, which are associated with gender, is one of the oldest symbols of LGBTQ culture. This color is also used in this collection. Historically, even before the rainbow symbol became widely known in 1970, the color lavender was widely recognized and used as a way to represent community. Four shoes in this collection feature lavender detailing, three of which incorporate the color "pulse" to represent the color's significance. The collection also incorporates the pink triangle, a color that has been used throughout the history of LGBTQ culture.


The Nike BETRUE VaporMax Plus, featuring the latest Max Air technology, features air bags dyed in six different colors. The highly limited edition Nike BETRUE Air Max 270, part of the popular series, features a transitional color scheme across the entire heel. The traditional rainbow color scheme enhances the lavender color.


The Nike BETRUE Zoom Fly, a racing shoe designed for lifestyle, features a semi-transparent upper with subtle rainbow accents. Additionally, the Nike BETRUE Epic React Flyknit uses the triangle, a symbol of strength and solidarity in the '80s, as a symbol of its all-black colorway.
