Morioka Shoten is holding an event titled "Where Did Issey Come From? The Person and Work of Miyake Issey" and exhibiting Paris Fashion Week invitations designed by Tadanori Yokoo.

Event Date:2018.06.26-07.01
Jun 2, 2018
A launch exhibition for "Where Did Issey Come From? The Person and Work of Miyake Issey" (published by HeHe), a book chronicling the work and personality of ISSEY MIYAKE designer Miyake Issey, will be held from June 26th to July 1st.

The book was released at the end of last year as a new reading material, incorporating eight chapters of essays by Kazuko Koike included in "Issey Miyake: The Complete Works of Miyake Issey," a large-format book that could be considered a "summary" of Miyake Issey's work, published by German publisher TASCHEN in 2016, with the addition of a newly written ninth chapter.

Author Kazuko Koike, a long-time supporter of Japan's creative industry, has known Miyake Issey since their student days. The book introduces Miyake's diverse work, including his clothing design, collections, exhibitions, and publications. The author, who has closely observed and closely followed Miyake's remarkable achievements and work, consistently creating products that redefine the concept of clothing from a unique perspective, offers insightful writing that skillfully portrays the contemporary sensibilities of the time, making this a fascinating documentary.

"Where Did Issey Come From? The Person and Work of Miyake Issey"
This launch exhibition features a carefully selected original invitation to the Issey Miyake Paris Collection, designed by renowned Japanese graphic designer Tadanori Yokoo, and featured in the book. This invitation is an extremely valuable piece sent exclusively to those involved, and its intricate graphics, the texture of the paper, and the attention to printing technique can only be experienced in person. Don't miss this rare opportunity to experience the overwhelming beauty of the large format.
