Popular illustrator Ayako Motonaga's works are featured on tableware at an exhibition at Pass the Baton Omotesando

Event Date:2018.05.24-06.17
May 22, 2018
The PASS THE BATON GALLERY inside the PASS THE BATON Omotesando store will be hosting an exhibition by artist and illustrator Motonaga Ayako, titled "piece of old tale," from May 24th to June 17th.

Artist Motonaga Ayako depicts the everyday scenes that surround us with her unique perspective and inspiration, creating a unique worldview. Drawn with delicate lines and careful color schemes, her worlds seem ordinary yet are not, somehow slightly mysterious and fascinating, stimulating the viewer's imagination and making them wonder, "Surely this exists somewhere in our everyday world." This special exhibition commemorates the release of "piece of old tale," an original item she created exclusively for PASS THE BATON. The fairy tale world is expressed through original illustrations of scenes from eight fairy tales from around the world, and with the addition of her own touch of imagination, the animals that appear are endowed with humor and irony, allowing each story to be told eloquently and heartwarmingly.

Kainohi (Fire in Shells) (2,600 yen)
The tableware being released this time is made from commercial tableware that, while still usable, was not sold in Japan due to its strict standards. Pre-sales will begin at PASS THE BATON Omotesando on May 24th, and will be available from June 1st at PASS THE BATON Marunouchi and Kyoto Gion stores, as well as online.

During the exhibition, drawings and embroidery works of people and animals will also be on display alongside antiques such as plant specimens, tablecloths, sheet music, handkerchiefs, doll kimonos, book covers, patchwork fabric, and clothing pattern paper.
