On May 3rd, CHANEL presented its 2018-19 Cruise Collection at the Grand Palais in Paris.

A cruise ship terminal was recreated at the venue, and the cruise ship "La Pausa," named after Gabrielle Chanel's villa, appeared. As beret-wearing models appeared on the runway in bright, sun-kissed colors in a "Chanel-style marine look," the entire venue was enveloped in a bright and refreshing mood, as if enjoying a cruise. The opening featured knitwear bearing the Coco logo and ship names paired with relaxed, striped wide-leg pants. The following jacket style, with its rounded, voluminous shoulders, evoked a sailor's uniform. Pale striped shirts and dresses featured smocking, a skillful finishing touch that accentuated the silhouette. Sets and mini-length dresses that revealed bare skin from the waist featured structured, rounded sleeves and seamless lines that hugged the body, accented with the iconic costume pearls for a refined look. The second half of the collection featured a vibrant mix of colors and materials, including a pastel pink tweed jacket, a multi-border knit, a feather-embellished PVC striped dress, and graphic chiffon and ruffle dresses. The collection continued with looks brimming with nautical elements, including motifs of cruise ships, shark teeth, waves, portholes, and embroidery evoking the glittering sunlight reflected on water. Additionally, many looks presented a new interpretation of the sailor spirit, including fishnet evening dresses and skirts and sequined striped styles.

Strap shoes, reminiscent of children's party styles, were paired with white tights, the collection's main color, for a clean and pure look. Accessories included a new vertical design from "BOY CHANEL," as well as unique items that embodied the collection's theme, such as a clutch bag featuring a multicolored camellia design inside a lifebuoy, a mesh bag with rope details, round sunglasses, striped fingerless gloves, and crochet bags.
