Designer and artist Norihiko Terayama's exhibition "Natural but Unnatural Scenes" will be held at Shirokane OFS gallery.

Event Date:2018.05.09-06.03
May 7, 2018
Norihiko Terayama, an artist active both domestically and internationally, will be holding an exhibition titled "Natural Scenes That Look Natural, But Are Unnatural," from May 9th to June 3rd at the OFS gallery inside OUR FAVOURITE SHOP in Shirokane, Tokyo.

After studying design in Japan, Norihiko Terayama studied abroad in the Netherlands. After returning to Japan, he founded studio note and has been involved in a wide range of design activities, primarily focusing on products, including the interior design of CLASKA Room701, store artwork, and client design. He is also active as an artist, participating in the "Design Ah! Exhibition," "Rice Exhibition," "Unit Exhibition," and "Zakka Exhibition" at 21_21 DESIGN SIGHT, and exhibiting his work in galleries.

In this exhibition, the artist expresses in the form of an installation the "natural yet unnatural scenes" he senses in the everyday scenes he sees without even thinking about them.

"I was genuinely intrigued by why people are drawn to plastic plants. When I added air to soapy water, the bubbles expanded as if they were moving of their own accord. They looked almost like living creatures. When I gazed absentmindedly at familiar scenes, I began to see unnatural scenes that appear natural."

An opening party, open to the public, will be held at the same venue from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on May 11th.
