Sunshine Aquarium is hosting a special "Bakemono" exhibition from June 28th to November 25th, showcasing creatures that change color and pattern as they grow and camouflage themselves.



This event will focus on mimicry, or the ability to disguise yourself as something else, and will feature exhibits such as the African scops owl, which slims its body to camouflage itself like a tree branch when defending itself from predators; the three-horned leaf frog, a brown frog with pointed eyes and nose that resembles a leaf; and the striped angelfish, a fish whose body pattern changes between juvenile and adult stages to protect itself from predators. There is also a corner inside the aquarium where you can actually search for camouflaged creatures, making for fun observations.

During the period, related menus and merchandise will also be on sale at Kanaloa Cafe and the Aqua Pocket shop inside Sunshine Aquarium.
