To mark the 55th anniversary of the "44GS," Seiko Watch Corporation will release a regular Grand Seiko model on October 7th. The new model features an innovative mechanical movement that will lead the next generation and is made of "Ever Brilliant Steel," a special material with the world's highest level of corrosion resistance.
The "Seiko Style," born more than half a century ago, pursues the essence of timepieces.
The "Seiko Style" is a design grammar devised to give Grand Seiko, which was born with the aim of achieving the pinnacle of precision, an appearance befitting a luxury watch. The Seiko Style, which creates brilliantly shining watches, was established with the release of the "44GS" in 1967. Its roots lie in Japanese aesthetics. The style, which creates beauty by manipulating the light emitted by the mirrored surface and the shadows cast by the three-dimensional shape, is achieved through advanced artisanal techniques, including "Zaratsu polishing," which polishes the surface to a smooth, beautiful, distortion-free surface.
Product Features
Uses "Ever Brilliant Steel," a special material boasting the world's highest level of corrosion resistance

This is the first regular Grand Seiko model to use "Ever Brilliant Steel"(*1), which boasts the world's highest level of corrosion resistance, not only for the case but also for the bracelet. This advanced material, with its beautiful white brilliance, harmonizes with the next-generation, innovative mechanical movement, "Caliber 9SA5," launched in 2020, and beautifully enhances the design of the "44GS," which is celebrating its 55th anniversary.

(※1) This material has a PREN (Pitting Resistance Equivalent Number) value that is 1.7 times higher than the stainless steel used in typical luxury watches. PREN is an index widely used to evaluate the corrosion resistance of metals.
Inspired by Mount Iwate, the scene of melting snow is expressed on the dial

Since ancient times, the spring thaw on Mount Iwate has heralded the start of a new season. The dial of this model was inspired by the majestic Mount Iwate, as seen from Grand Seiko Studio Shizukuishi, where Grand Seiko mechanical models are manufactured. The delicate shadows of the embossed pattern and a pale blue hue close to silver represent the spring thaw on Mount Iwate. The appearance changes multiple times depending on the angle of the light, creating a beautiful model that harmonizes with the shining white of the Ever Brilliant Steel case.
