The Zushi Beach Film Festival, a Golden Week-only event brought to you by Cinema Caravan, a globally traveling outdoor cinema project, will be held again in 2018. The 10-day theme and lineup have been decided.

The Zushi Beach Film Festival is an outdoor film festival showcasing outstanding domestic and international films in the perfect location of the beach.
Creators handcrafted the venue on the normally quiet and deserted Zushi Beach, and after the festival ends, the beach returns to its original, tranquil state as if nothing had happened. It's truly a dreamlike film festival, appearing and disappearing suddenly for just 10 days, centered around Golden Week. During the day, visitors can enjoy the nature and the culture, music, and food that underpin it, and as the sun sets, films are screened against the backdrop of the sound of waves and a starry sky.
The festival is produced by Cinema Caravan, an organization made up of creators and artists from the area.
"Since our launch in 2009, we have consistently worked to create a venue by hand and open doors to connections with the world, and we feel that the seeds of that spirit that we have continued to sow have certainly taken root. As the natural environment and social conditions surrounding the Earth continue to change, our goal is to foster intellect that enables people to think and express themselves, as well as rich human abilities. This has been our consistent guiding principle for this film festival for the past nine years," Cinema Caravan commented.
You can't just "watch" a film with your eyes; you can enjoy it with all your senses and your whole body, experience a variety of cultures in a natural environment, and there are also events where you can experience communication involving the local community with friendly countries around the world, people you've connected with, and key people from Zushi and Miura. The festival brings together the connections and diverse cultures you've made, and is a place where you can share the fruits of your travels and experience nature using your five senses.
Films to be screened have been selected from a variety of fields that will allow you to use your five senses.
Opening Day, April 27th, will see the screening of "In This Corner of the World," followed on the 28th by "Tony Conrad: The Perfect Now," a documentary about Tony Conrad, who has been active in film, music, and art since the 1960s, on the 29th by Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who took the world by storm with his black humor and unique worldview, and on the 30th by "The Climber."
May 1st will see the classic film of the independent cinema boom, "Baghdad Cafe: New Director's Cut," on the 2nd by the upbeat music-packed "Chef: A Three-Star Food Truck," and on Kids' Day, May 3rd, the dialogue-free animated film "Looking for My Father" will be screened. On the 4th, we will hold Indonesia Day, featuring Indonesia, with which we have ongoing exchanges centered around the art city of Yogyakarta. We will screen "Light and Shadow x Indonesia Yatai Trip," a collaboration between the work of Takashi Kuribayashi, who initiated the exchange, and the artist Kohei Kawamura, who developed Indonesia's classical shadow puppetry. On the 5th, we will hold Skateboarding Day, featuring skateboarding culture, with demo rides by guest skaters in the afternoon and a "Skateboard Film" by skaters in the evening. On the 6th, we will hold Cinema Caravan Day, screening "Play with the Earth," an original work by Cinema Caravan representative Rai Shizuno, which was well-received last year. Enjoy the latest version of this work, which continues to evolve as the artist experiences travel, accompanied by live music.
During Golden Week, why not visit a cinema that connects you to the earth with your five senses, available for 10 days only?
