With the goal of "making the earth cool and its people warm," Canada Goose Japan has begun investing in solar power generation.
To strengthen its renewable energy initiatives, Canada Goose Japan has invested in a solar power plant operated by Citizen Energy Chiba Co., Ltd. in Sosa City, Chiba Prefecture, to establish the Canada Goose Solar Power Plant. The plant has a total area of 1,776 m², a power generation capacity of 88 kWp, and an expected annual power generation of 88,200 kWh. This is equivalent to approximately 60% of the annual electricity consumption of the Canada Goose Sendagaya store. Canada Goose Japan will fully support the operation of the solar power plant for the next 20 years.
Unique Panel Structure
Instead of the typical six-row cell panel configuration, Chiba City Energy Co., Ltd. adheres to the "long, narrow panels with a shading rate of less than 35%" principle advocated by Akira Nagashima, founder of Solar Sharing, as the basis for all of its projects. Farmers cultivate organic crops beneath the solar sharing panels, and the long, narrow panel design prevents large shadows and ensures even sunlight exposure.
This structure also prevents large puddles from forming on the ground during rainy weather, preventing damage to crops. Furthermore, the surface area of each panel is smaller than that of conventional panels, making them less susceptible to wind damage. These features make solar sharing an ideal way to generate electricity and promote organic agriculture.
