For a total of 10 days from April 27th to May 6th, Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse will be holding "Yokohama Frühlings Fest 2018," an event that recreates a German spring festival, at the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse Event Square and Red Brick Park.

"Frühlings Fest" is a German festival that celebrates the arrival of spring. It combines a beer festival and a traveling amusement park, and in Germany it is a traditional event where people enjoy a spring day with family and friends.

The Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse, where the festival is held, has strong ties to Germany, as it incorporates some German architecture and Yokohama Port is a sister port of the Port of Hamburg in Northern Germany, so various events said to have originated in Germany are held throughout the year. This event attracted approximately 400,000 visitors last year and is quickly becoming established as an annual Golden Week festival in the Yokohama area.

This year, marking the sixth anniversary of the festival, the event will be based on the concept of the "Fischmarkt," a market in the Port of Hamburg, Yokohama's sister city, and will feature a variety of seafood dishes such as "Hamburger Panfish" and "Hamburger Garlic Shrimp." Classic German dishes such as sausages will also be available, as well as a food menu for enjoying while walking around.

Also, this year the 30-meter-wide beer counter that was installed until 2016 will be back, selling beers such as "Weltenburger Urtip Hell" and "Weihenstephanblaupact," which are making their Japan debut, as well as non-alcoholic drinks such as the cute-looking "Schwapop." Food and drink will be available for people of all ages and genders. Food and drink can be enjoyed not only at tables and benches, but also on the lawn of Red Brick Park, overlooking Yokohama Port, as you soak up the spring sunshine.

In addition, the traveling amusement park, one of the event's highlights, will be even more powerful than last year. This year, in addition to last year's popular merry-go-round and the pirate ship that swings up and down with a pendulum movement, a new attraction will be a coffee cup. There will also be attractions that adults and children can ride together, making it fun for the whole family. In addition to food, drinks, and attractions, there will also be workshops for children and live performances by a German orchestra in a special tent.
