Fluss, a piano atelier in Oyamadai, Tokyo, will be hosting Emma Maeda's first solo exhibition in three years, "Losing Eyes."
Through the view from a room in an apartment, this exhibition traces the process by which a person's "eyes" are formed: the "eyes" that cut out and present the scenery created by the building, the "eyes" of the values one grows up with in a room chosen by one's parents, and one's own "eyes" that question those values as one grows older.
Maeda, who continues to create works based on the theme of "landscapes in memories that are constantly being overwritten," will develop an installation inspired by the questions and emotions she has about "parents (family)," a subject that has fascinated her for the past four years.
