Jan 30, 2018

The award ceremony for the 29th Japan Jewelry Best Dresser Award, given to celebrities who look best in jewelry, was held in Tokyo on January 25th. This award was launched at the same time as the first International Jewelry Exhibition. Every year, celebrities are selected from various generations and in the male category to recognize "the most radiant person," "the person who looks best in jewelry," and "the person we hope will continue to wear jewelry in the future."

This year's recipients were Yumi Okada (teens category), Nanao (20s category), Aya Ueto (30s category), Haruhi Ryoga (40s category), Yuko Asano (50s category), Shinobu Otake (60s and older category), and Sota Fukushi (male category). Special awards were also presented to Ruriko Asaoka and WBA World Middleweight Champion Ryota Murata. Yumi Okada, a talent and daughter of comedian Keisuke Okada of the comedy duo Masuda Okada, expressed her joy, saying, "It feels like a dream. I'm so happy I could cry." Nanao said, "I love birthstones and collect natural stones. Seeing all the booths today made me want it even more. Also, one of the stores had jewelry inspired by me. I often play villainous roles, so I wondered what kind of jewelry it would be, but it was so sparkling and angelic that I almost cried." Asano said, "Since I was a teenager, I've been collecting jewelry as a reward for myself after finishing a job I thought was worth it." She added, "At the end of last year, I added another very precious treasure to my collection," which thrilled the audience. Fukushi also said, "My favorite jewelry memory is buying earrings for my two older sisters and mother when we traveled abroad. I was nervous, but they were so happy. I want to continue giving gifts to my family and others."
