THE LIBRARY, a new select shop by Unglobal Inc., will open four stores in succession, starting with the Kyoto Bar store on March 2nd, followed by stores in Jiyugaoka, Kobe, and Tenjin. We visited the Jiyugaoka store which opened on the 3rd.



The store was originally a MARGARET HOWELL store that was renovated and reborn as a new select shop. The shared house shop will be curated with a unique perspective, and will stock a range of products, mainly British brands such as Margaret Howell, MHL., and SUNSPEL, as well as the store's own brand YLÈVE, which debuted in spring 2018, and original clothing and miscellaneous goods from The Library.

In addition to clothing, the store also carries lifestyle goods representative of Japanese handicrafts, such as household goods by Margaret Howell, tea caddies from Kaikado in Kyoto, and Noda enamelware, as well as a selection of noteworthy books that clothing designer Margaret Howell respects.

"It would be great to hold an event like "People and Things" in the future, where you can get a sense of the background of the maker. We want Margaret Howell fans and customers visiting for the first time to enjoy combining products with various other brands," commented a person involved with the brand. To commemorate the opening, Unglobal Members will be holding a Wpoint campaign from the opening date of each store until March 31st.
