Damasco launches a diver's watch with an in-house movement and a robust exterior that can withstand harsh environments.

German luxury watch manufacturer Damasko introduces the DSub50, a diver's watch powered by the A26-2, a completely in-house movement. In addition to the highly serviceable and highly efficient in-house movement, this watch also features a Damasko-coated submarine steel exterior, embodying all the hallmarks of a Damasko watch.

Robust Exterior for Harsh Environments
The DSub50's case is crafted from German-sourced austenitic submarine steel, which is not only strong but also ductile. Highly corrosion-resistant and completely non-magnetic, this material is ideal for diver's watches used in harsh environments. Furthermore, the ice-hardening process increases the material's hardness to approximately 710 HV (Vickers hardness). This ensures water resistance of up to 30 bar (300 m) despite its 12.60 mm thinness.

The black Damascus coating on the exterior further enhances the watch's appeal. Damascus' proprietary Damascus coating combines three seemingly contradictory qualities: extreme strength, scratch resistance, and flexibility. Not only does it offer superior abrasion resistance compared to conventional coatings, but the ion-implanted layer acts as an anchor, ensuring optimal adhesion of the 7μm thick coating.

The unidirectional rotating bezel is held in place by a patented ceramic ball, preventing accidental movement and reducing wear over time, allowing for precise and flawless measurement of decompression times. Damasco's exclusive Damasco Crown System also allows the crown to be operated underwater. This system lubricates an O-ring built into the crown tube, providing a much longer-lasting and more stable seal than conventional O-rings.

●A unique automatic winding design
The Damasco A26-2 in-house movement is a compact, versatile automatic movement. It replaces the ETA 2824-2 previously used by Damasco, but it boasts a unique character.

● Main features
- Double-supported balance bridge improves shock resistance
- By adopting a ratchet-type automatic winding system that winds the watch with pawls instead of gears, the number of automatic winding parts has been reduced. Improved maintainability and durability
- Ceramic bearings are used in the automatic winding mechanism. Due to the reduced resistance, the overall winding efficiency of the automatic winding is approximately 10% better than the ETA2824-2.
・Made of Damascus

●Basic specifications
・28,800 vph
・Power reserve of approximately 42 hours
・Adjusted in 5 directions
・20 jewels (ceramic bearings not included)
・Shock resistance in accordance with DIN 8308 standard
・Magnetic resistance in accordance with DIN 8309 standard (4800 A/m)
・Date display

The main feature of the A26 is its ratchet automatic winding. With fewer parts, less wear, and excellent winding efficiency, this automatic winding mechanism is easy to maintain and will keep your watch fully wound even while working at a desk.

Combining high performance with a practical size
With a 300m water-resistant case and a robust in-house automatic winding mechanism, the DSub50 is a model that fully embodies the characteristics of a Damascus watch. However, with a case thickness of 12.60mm, it is possible to wear it everyday despite its high specs.
