French designer Jean-Louis Cherel passes away

French fashion designer Jean-Louis Scherrer passed away in Paris on the 20th. He was 78 years old.

Scherrer was born in Paris on February 19th, 1935. After working for Christian Dior, Yves Saint Laurent, and Louis Féraud, he started his own eponymous brand in 1962. He became a member of the Association de la Haute Couture in 1971.

The Saison Group, which had a close relationship with the maison since its inception and had been developing the brand in Japan since 1975, took a stake in the company in 1990, but Jean-Louis Scherrer sold his own brand in 1992.
