Shirt specialty store Maker's Shirt Kamakura will open a new men's accessories store, "WEST END RULE by Maker's Shirt Kamakura," at Mark Is Minatomirai on June 21st.
The store specializes in men's accessories such as wallets, belts, umbrellas, and bags. The store's name means "the law of the far west" and features items that British gentlemen would carry. This marks a first for Maker's Shirt Kamakura, which has exclusively sold shirts and ties for 20 years since its founding in 1993.
Products are divided into four categories: dress items, such as ties, belts, and polo shirts for business occasions; leather goods, such as wallets, card cases, key cases, and suspenders; travel items, such as umbrellas and travel bags for business trips; and home items, such as nightwear and socks. Wallets and other leather goods are ordered from factories that also produce for world-famous brands, using materials such as cordovan and calf leather with an embossed finish called Wordprolux. Prices generally range from around ¥15,000. Store Manager Azusa Ikeda explains, "Other manufacturers offer the same quality at two to three times the price, but we deal directly with the factories, which allows us to keep our costs down and offer these prices." President Tamiko Sadasue adds, "We personally identify and contract with highly skilled factories and home-based manufacturers. Because we offer high-quality products at low prices, we adhere to our policy of not holding sales. We want customers to think, 'This is a great deal for this quality.'" Also on display are original umbrellas (¥15,750) made to order from the Italian umbrella brand Magli Francesco. The company plans to continue partnering with luxury overseas brands to offer high-quality yet reasonably priced items.
