The first Brooks Brothers Flatiron Shop flagship store in Japan opened at MARK IS Minato Mirai on the 21st. The shop, named after New York's Flatiron district, where Brooks Brothers had its flagship store in the early 1900s, opened its first store in Japan at Isetan Shinjuku in August last year. Since then, shop-in-shops have been opened in four locations: Osaka Mitsukoshi Isetan, JR Kyoto Isetan, and Fukuoka Mitsukoshi. This new store is positioned as a flagship, fully expressing the brand's unique worldview. It also marks the first time that women's items are offered. The 139.9-square-meter store offers a mix of the brand's main line, centered around the "RED FLEECE" line, which offers a casual update of items symbolizing the brand's 195-year history. 70% of the items are men's, and 30% are women's.
The product lineup is geared towards a wider customer base than traditional Brooks Brothers, with jackets ranging from slim fit to basic silhouettes. Casual polo shirts and shorts, as well as colorful patchwork jackets, are also on display. Manager Koji Kado says, "We want to make this store a base that communicates the world of Brooks Brothers, not just a 'formal' style."
The interior features brick-style walls and antique furniture and photographs imported directly from Italy. A first for a Flatiron shop in Japan, the store also features a photo booth where you can make print stickers for free. This photo service is said to be popular at the New York store as well.
