Event Date:2018.01.27-03.25
Jan 15, 2018
To commemorate the 60th anniversary of Miura Jun's birth, a special exhibition titled "MJ's FES Miura Jun Fest! The Full Picture of My Boom Since 1958" will be held at the Kawasaki City Museum in Kanagawa Prefecture from January 27th to March 25th. Main visual for the special exhibition "MJ's FES Miura Jun Fes! The Complete Picture of My Boom SINCE 1958"
This exhibition will showcase all of his vast and profound creative activities, revealing the origins and full picture of his "My Boom," as well as the numerous collections he has amassed over the years, from the essay collections, manga, and scrapbooks (of Buddhist statues, monsters, etc.) that he edited and produced himself from his childhood and adolescence, to the books, CDs, DVDs, films, and original Buddhist illustrations he released after his major debut.

As part of a program linked to the exhibition, the video hall will screen four films that Jun Miura was involved in writing and planning: "IDENTITY," "Sex Is Zero," "I'm a Pervert" (R-18), and "The Slideshow is Coming! The Secret of the 'Legendary Friendship'." These films require a separate admission fee from the exhibition.

Monster Scraps 1965-1967

Other exhibits include a recreated workroom, a public display of handwritten essays from his childhood and adolescence, manga, sketchbooks, and scrapbooks, a "personal obsession" collection of "outlaw souvenirs" collected from all over the country, a display of mascot characters designed by Jun Miura, a giant standing statue of Tsukkomi Nyorai, and a secret room where children are not allowed!?

In addition, there will be a number of programs related to the special exhibition, such as gallery tours by curators from 2pm on February 12th, March 11th, and 21st, and a talk show with Miura's friend Seiko Ito from 2pm on March 4th in conjunction with a related film screening. For further details, please visit the website (http://www.kawasaki-museum.jp/).

My debut is generally considered to have been in 1980, but according to my research, my obsession began as early as when I was in the first grade of elementary school. It's been 54 years since I created my "Monster Scrapbook," now considered a national treasure or even a "personal treasure." Since then, I've continued to create my own manga magazines, newspapers, essay books, and even anime, all of which I've never been asked to create, and now, an exhibition showcasing the full scope of my work will be held at the Kawasaki City Museum. I'm sure you'll be overwhelmed by the sheer number of works on display, and be left speechless. "What on earth is this exhibition about?" you'll probably ask. I agree. I'm sure the answer will become clear during a talk by a friend of mine during the exhibition. Please take a look at my long-standing obsession with collecting and showcasing my works. Thank you for your attention. Jun Miura, Representative of the Jun Miura Exhibition
