A solo exhibition by A TWO PIPE PROBLEM LETTERPRESS, a letterpress printing studio run by Stephen Kenny, one of the world's most acclaimed artists, will be held at MONKEY GALLERY & CAFE in Daikanyama from December 14th to 27th.

Based in East London, A TWO PIPE PROBLEM LETTERPRESS's highly artistic prints, created using vintage wood type and letterpress machines from the 1800s and 1900s, are popular not only in their home country of the UK but also in Japan. Mixing numerous wood type sets with alphabets and numbers—a rare find in the history of letterpress printing—the works, featuring well-balanced layouts, techniques, and tasteful word selection, combine the nostalgic charm of letterpress printing with a contemporary pop aesthetic, creating a charming blend of the old and the new. This exhibition, held for the first time in two years, will showcase a selection of positive works under the theme "MILES OF SMILES," showcasing the joys of smiles. Also during the exhibition, on December 16th and 17th, a workshop will be held featuring Stephen Kenny. Using an 8x5 letterpress press from the 1970s by ADANA, renowned for its renowned letterpress printing presses, participants will experience type layout and printing, allowing them to create an original notebook. The workshop will be held twice a day, starting at 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, with a maximum of eight participants per session. The fee is 2,000 yen. Applications are now being accepted on the course application page (http://www.hemings.co.jp/blog/2017/11/24/63).
This is a rare opportunity for adults and children alike to experience the charm of letterpress printing, so be sure to visit.
