The store is located just a five-minute walk under the elevated railway from Oji Koen Station, less than a five-minute Hankyu train ride from Sannomiya Station in Kobe's downtown area. Ever since opening a pop-up shop in a gallery in a corner under the elevated railway two years ago, Coci la elle's founder, Higashi Chika, has been imagining a scene where Coci la elle is located in this city, where the city and its people are so welcoming.
In order to turn this unusual property, which had no walls when it was first discovered, into a one-of-a-kind umbrella shop, designer Hoshi Kana absorbed and embodied all of the memories and charm of the location, as well as the feelings she wanted to convey for the new store, creating a space that, just like Koshiraeru's umbrellas, picks up and unfolds everyday emotions and events.
The Kobe store will be introducing a limited edition handkerchief (2,200 yen) featuring a now-rare "blue print" of Hoshi Kana's blueprints with words by Higashi Chika. Higashi Chika will also be in the store on the opening day, and a small gift (limited quantity) will be available for purchase of an umbrella or the visual book "Kasa."

In addition, Cocilaelle has been selling its new umbrella series, "Mela," since December 12th. The entire series is imbued with Cocilaelle's signature humorous beauty and colorful playfulness, featuring the process of transforming line drawings into colored paintings, familiar cookies, watercolors and polka dots, dreamlike collages, and patterns made from beads and kitschy accessories.
Also, be sure to check out the pagoda-shaped umbrellas, which have been made for the first time and are available in limited designs. A special page (http://cocilaelle.com/mela) was also launched on the same day, featuring images taken by photographer Yasuyuki Emori of actress Izumi Aoyagi blending into the deformed rock formations and beautiful scenery.
