Bottega Veneta has unveiled its Early Fall 2018 collection for both men and women. The beautiful colors of frescoes catch the eye in the women's looks. While continuing this sophisticated color palette, which was also a staple of the Spring/Summer 2018 collection, airy lace and silk dresses have been updated with a simpler, more romantic feel, unlike the decorative silhouettes of Spring/Summer. Bottega Veneta's signature elegant midi dresses are cinched at the waist with colorful leather belts made from a blend of materials, elevating them to a light and airy look like the early autumn breeze. Multicolored sequins, layered like fish scales, are used to trim cotton piqué coats and skirts, adding a lustrous sheen. The final part of the collection featured a series of striking looks that visually hint at the arrival of autumn. Knee-length dresses, skirts, and long coats feature large checks and color blocks in an abundance of rich hues, including Mona Lisa purple, sunset yellow, and China red. The bold color and graphic combinations evoke the Maison's playful spirit.
Bags feature many new shapes and details. Slim rectangular crossbody bags feature three-dimensional "spheres" adorned with pearlescent embellishments, while the popular "Lauren 1980" and "Mini Montebello" models are updated with micro-stud quilting. The patent leather "Isabella" pumps, adorning the feet, feature unique accents, such as a paint-dipped pattern on the bottom of the heel and an embossed intrecciato texture.
As with the women's collection, the men's ready-to-wear collection features effortless looks, including piece-dyed sweatshirts, soft leather jackets, and unpadded suits, in a color palette evocative of fresco paintings. A common thread across the clothing, bags, and shoes is the diamond motif that was featured on last season's intrecciato checkered bag. It's colorfully applied to printed bomber jackets, button-down shirts, military jackets, neo-argyle knitwear, and socks, creating striking contrasts. The bag collection includes functional belt bags and ultra-lightweight BV totes, as well as luxurious duffle bags featuring striped patterns made from multiple leathers, including crocodile and intrecciato nappa. The shoe lineup includes casual yet iconic Bottega Veneta models, such as checkered slip-ons and lace-up sneakers.
