Books and Modern, a bookstore and gallery in Nogizaka, will be holding an exhibition of works by Yuki Koida, titled "Traveling Basket," from November 17th to December 10th.

Yuki Koida is a printmaker who works mainly in magazines and advertising. She began her career in 1997, and since her solo exhibitions "build up" (gallery ROCKET) and "Alvar Aalto -- The World of Chairs" (Illums Ikebukuro) in 2001, she has regularly held solo exhibitions evoking Scandinavian culture, design, and interior design. In 2015, she held "Russian Dream, Dream Russia - She's Going to Dreamland, Russia" at Books & Modern, the same venue where this exhibition is held. In addition to being featured in magazines and advertisements, she also frequently collaborates with companies. ILLUMS regularly stocks a large number of her Scandinavian-themed prints and produces original products.

This exhibition features prints featuring baskets from around the world. Based on the theme "The texture of a basket is the scent of travel," she depicts various baskets woven from local materials and plants using the hands and ingenuity of local people around the world, capturing the scents of various lifestyles that permeate the weave of the baskets, as well as the scents of countries she has visited and cities she has yet to see. The artist will be present during the exhibition on November 17th, 18th, and 25th, and December 2nd and 9th.
