L'arcobaleno, a highly acclaimed brand for its high-quality Italian leather accessories, has collaborated with hugely popular fashion icon and model Makiko Takizawa to sell leather goods such as iPhone cases and smart mini wallets.
This collaboration with L'arcobaleno marks Takizawa's first attempt at designing leather goods. The noteworthy collaboration items, created with Takizawa's characteristic attention to detail and high sense, will be available for pre-sale from July 12th at the Larcobaleno online shop and Larcobaleno Kiyosumi Shirakawa store, before being rolled out from July 20th at the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building 1F Miscellaneous Goods/Isetan Seed section.
For this collaboration, Takizawa has adopted two of his favorite colors, navy and gray, and created three items in each color. "Navy and gray are basic colors, but it's actually quite difficult to find shades that you like," says Takizawa. This time, in order to achieve his perfect shade, he commissioned colors from Alran, the leather tanner used by L'arcobaleno, and Takizawa himself named the colors "MIDNIGHT" for the navy and "ASPHALT" for the gray.
The material is also Alran's patent leather, a first for L'arcobaleno. Goat leather and patent leather, two classic L'arcobaleno materials, are mixed in one item, creating an item that allows you to enjoy a unique combination. "I've always loved coordinating one-tone outfits, and I especially love playing with mixing different materials within a single color. I like items that are simple yet have a unique flair, so I chose to stick to a single color and add a playful touch with the combination of materials," says Takizawa, whose collection is packed with his signature attention to detail.
Furthermore, Takizawa's individuality shines through in the "edge" of the bag, an essential part of L'arcobaleno's meticulous craftsmanship. While the edge is usually finished in black, this time, at Takizawa's request, some of the edges are finished in white. "Finishing the case with a white edge not only emphasizes the use of different materials, but also gives it a soft feel and a refreshing look that is perfect for the upcoming season. I feel that making the visible edge pure white gives it a richer look. I would recommend this case to both men and women," said Takizawa, commenting on the white edge.
Fascinated by the high technical skills and functional, sophisticated design, Takizawa is a regular user of L'arcobaleno's iPhone cases and smart mini wallets. On why she chose these three models from the many possible items for this collaboration:
"I've always loved the iPhone case and mini wallet, so I chose them without hesitation. As for the iPhone case, I sometimes find it takes a while to take my iPhone out of my bag, so for this collaboration, I decided to add a detachable shoulder strap. I really like the size of the smart mini wallet, which fits perfectly in a mini bag, so I kept the size and shape the same but added my own personal touches. The smart key case is an item I've personally wanted for a long time. I wanted to use it myself, so I added it to the collaboration items!"
