The Mass art gallery in Harajuku, Tokyo, will be hosting Takeshi Masada's solo exhibition, "Sulky Yamabiko, Accelerating Apoptosis," from November 18 to December 17.
This exhibition, his first in five years, is based on the themes of "madness" and "purification." The works are based on a story of Masada's own creation: the jealousy, madness, and purification of protagonist A, whose longtime boyfriend A is stolen away by her beloved junior colleague B. In his large-scale oil paintings and three-dimensional crayon works, Masada breaks away from the commonly used uses of crayons and reinvents them into three-dimensional works using his unique style.
In addition, on November 25th, a talk session featuring Takeshi Masada and contemporary artist Tomoaki Ishihara will be held from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Participation is free. Additionally, during the exhibition period, the gallery shop will be selling merchandise created in collaboration with Takeshi Masada x fragment design x NOMA t.d.
