To celebrate the publication of artist Yasuhiro Suzuki's new picture book, "Apples and Kendama," a talk event titled "London & Hakone: Trivia" will be held at NADiff Apartments in Ebisu, Tokyo.
The technique of replacing something in everyday life that you think "this is similar to something" with something else is called "mitate." Suzuki has produced many works that imaginatively broaden our perspective on familiar objects and phenomena from everyday life, such as likening a red kendama ball to an apple and a ship's wake to a zipper.
In addition to the talk event, Nadiff Apartment is holding an in-store exhibition from October 19th to November 26th that allows visitors to experience Suzuki's world of "mitate" (representation), including his new picture book "Apples and Kendama," his original product "Apple Kendama" (more trees), and the art book "Komorebi no Notebook" (Fukunaga Shiko).
Please note that to participate in the talk event, you must apply in advance by calling the store (03-3446-4977) or emailing webshop@nadiff.com (enter your name, phone number, and number of participants).
