The Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse will be hosting the "Christmas Market at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse" in its event plaza from November 25th to December 25th, where visitors can enjoy the atmosphere of a Christmas market in Cologne, Germany.
The Christmas market, which is said to have originated in Frankfurt, Germany in 1393, is an event where visitors can enjoy shopping for Christmas preparations during the "Advent" period, a period in which people wait for the arrival of Christmas. Since the Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse is a historic building that incorporates some German architectural styles, and Yokohama City is a partner city of Frankfurt, the Christmas market has been held since 2010 as a way to experience the authentic atmosphere of Cologne, Germany, and this year marks its 8th anniversary.
This year, the world of the Cologne Christmas market, the largest in western Germany, will be recreated. Cologne's Christmas market is held in front of the cathedral, a World Heritage Site, and is characterized by its sparkling illuminations.
The fir tree at the entrance to the venue is lit with warm-colored light bulbs and decorated in Christmas colors of red and green, creating a cheerful, tree-lined atmosphere. At the end of the tree-lined avenue are 24 huts (wooden huts) imported from Germany, selling mugs (with original red brick designs), a staple of authentic Christmas markets, as well as German and Christmas goods. In addition to goods, they also sell food and drinks essential to a German Christmas, such as mulled wine (hot wine) to warm you up, and classic German Christmas sausages and stollen (cake), creating the atmosphere of a lively, authentic market.

On the sea side of the venue, a Christmas tree made from a real fir tree measuring approximately 12 metres in height, the symbol of the event, will be set up. An illumination roof adorned with countless lights will be decorated facing the symbol tree, and a tunnel of light will add a touch of elegance to the venue.
As with last year, the Christmas tree and tree-lined avenue decorations have been produced by Sant Jordi Flowers The Decorator, a flower shop that suggests giving flowers to loved ones. During the event, there will also be live Christmas music performances, allowing you to enjoy an authentic Christmas atmosphere. Additionally, Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse No. 1 and No. 2 will be hosting limited-time events such as workshops to create original Christmas wreaths and candles, a greeting event where Santa Claus will hand out presents and take commemorative photos, and a raffle with the chance to win original Red Brick goods. In addition, limited-edition Christmas goods and food and drink menus that can only be enjoyed here will also be on sale.
