The Chinese festival of Qixi, also known as the "Double Sevenths Festival" as it falls on July 7th, is inspired by the myth of the Oxherding Weaver Girl. Inspired by the ancient celebration and the number "7," Harry Winston has depicted this moving mythological scene in a limited-edition collection of seven timepieces. This model tells the romantic tale of two lovers separated by the Milky Way. The delicate colors of mother-of-pearl and gemstones, set within the graceful silhouette of the white gold case, create a mystical celestial scene, evocative of true love that will last forever.
“The Cowherd and Weaver Girl”
Inspired by the astronomical phenomenon known as the "Summer Triangle," in which Altair (Aquila), Vega (Lyra), and Deneb (Cygnus), this tale of the Cowherd and Weaver Girl's annual rendezvous first came to be told during the Han Dynasty (206 BC - 220 AD). The tale depicts the love affair between the beautiful Weaver Girl, the seventh daughter of the Heavenly Empress, and the humble cowherd Altair.
This story has many variations, but one legend tells it like this: One day, the seven daughters of the Heavenly Empress, the Seven Fairies, abandoned their work of weaving cloud brocade and rainbows and descended to the human world to bathe in a river. A cowherd appeared, and upon seeing Orihime, he fell in love. It was love at first sight. Orihime accepted Kengyu's proposal and became his wife, deciding to remain on earth. Upon learning of their marriage, the Heavenly Empress was enraged and ordered Orihime to return to heaven. She then separated the two lovers on opposite banks of the Milky Way, ensuring they would be separated forever. Moved by the tragedy that tore the lovers apart, a flock of magpies builds a bridge over the Milky Way every year on the night of July 7th, so that the two can be reunited. (This special bridge is scheduled to appear on August 4th this year.)
Celestial Scene
The dial of the Premier Sweet Star Automatic 36mm depicts the moment when two lovers are reunited, guided by true love, through the radiant brilliance of mother-of-pearl and gemstones. Orihime and Altair are depicted as two overlapping stars surrounded by a constellation of rubies and diamonds. This motif, located at 6 o'clock on the dial, features a red star on top of which a white mother-of-pearl star serves as the small seconds hand.
The delicate silvery color of the mother-of-pearl is layered on an 18K gold base, evoking the pale hues of twilight as the stars emerge from the heavens. The off-center hour and minute counters are clad in a romantic rose hue, while clouds, also in rose hue, appear beneath them. At 12 o'clock is Harry Winston's signature emerald-cut diamond. The round brilliant-cut diamonds scattered across the dial represent magpies, while the three arcing lines represent the Milky Way.

The HW Premiere Collection was Harry Winston's first timepiece collection, launched in 1989. The striking lug designs at 12 and 6 o'clock were inspired by the entrance arch of Harry Winston's Fifth Avenue flagship store. The elegant lines of the case enhance the beauty of the diamonds. The 18K gold case of the Premier Sweet Star Automatic 36mm is also adorned with dazzling round brilliant-cut diamonds. The Premier Sweet Star Automatic 36mm is equipped with a Swiss mechanical automatic movement with a 72-hour power reserve and a silicon flat balance spring. The skeletonized 18K rose gold rotor, Côtes de Genève and circular-grained finishes on the movement reflect the brand's attention to detail.
"7"
The "HW Premier Sweet Star Automatic 36mm" will be produced in a limited run of seven pieces, in reference to the number that symbolizes the Tanabata Festival. The pearl pink alligator strap, which matches the tone of the dial, comes with an 18K white gold Ardiron buckle adorned with 17 round brilliant-cut diamonds. This special limited edition model, exuding a sacred atmosphere, comes with a dedicated gift box.
