Margaret Howell presented its Spring/Summer 2018 collection on September 17th. The combined women's and men's show focused on the brand's signature minimalist designs, crafted from classic, high-quality materials, and gender-neutral styles, but also featured playful touches throughout.
The first look featured the brand's signature black-and-white shirt and checked shorts. The shirt's deformed collar and generously roomy bodice created a relaxed impression. The collection continued with a relaxed yet elegant look, befitting a high-achieving student. In addition to modern motifs like graphic-patterned shirts, ties, and scarves, the collection incorporated boxer shorts for women and Bermuda shorts for men, elevating tradition without sacrificing fresh style. The collection also featured a wide variety of outerwear, including duffle coats, trench coats, and jackets in crisp fabrics. The final show, featuring ice blue pleated skirts and sheer dresses, left a gentle, serene impression, like a spring breeze.
You'll also want to take a look at the styling techniques, such as the bright green socks used as an accent color, the way the long belt is tied around the waist, and the way the scarf is wrapped. This collection is an exquisite balance of timeless stability and flexibility that adapts to the times.
