Pellat-Finet and Yasumichi Morita collaborate to create a vase with a skull and leaf pattern

Jun 3, 2013

A crystal vase (¥231,000), a collaboration between Lucien Pellat-Finet and interior designer Yasumichi Morita, will be released on July 24th. The rounded form is individually blown by artisans in Ukraine. The entire piece is decorated with Pellat-Finet's signature skull and leaf pattern, created using Japanese polishing techniques. Morita, who was originally a fan of Pellat-Finet's cashmere knitwear, met Pellat-Finet himself and discovered a shared sensibility, leading to the collaboration. Morita commented, "It can be enjoyed not only as a vase but also as an object, and even its shadows are beautiful. Its design will become more enjoyable with age and will add beauty to your life." Pellat-Finet also commented, "I hope that this vase, which combines Eastern and Western techniques, will be used casually in everyday life and create a happy space." The collection will be available at all Lucien Pellat-Finet stores. It will be available at the Lucien Pellat-Finet stores on the 3rd floor of the main building and the 2nd floor of the Men's Building at Isetan Shinjuku on July 24th, and at other stores from July 31st. A visual announcing the release is currently on display at the Art Frame on the 3rd floor of Isetan Shinjuku. Pellat-Finet was founded in France in 1994 and has developed a luxury wear collection centered on the finest cashmere knitwear. It is also known as the "King of Cashmere." In Japan, the brand has a total of eight stores, including the Omotesando store that opened in 2002 and Shinsaibashi. Morita was born in Osaka in 1967 and is the president of the design firm Glamorous (GLAMOROUS co.,ltd.). He is active in a wide range of fields, including interior, graphic, and product design, both domestically and internationally. In addition to the renovation of the Isetan Shinjuku store, which had its grand opening in March, they have also worked on the W Hotel in Hong Kong.
