Solo exhibition of Indonesia's leading ceramic artist, Alberto Yonatan, to be held at Pola Museum Annex

Event Date:2017.10.07-11.05
Sep 23, 2017

From October 7th to November 5th, the Pola Museum Annex, a gallery in Tokyo's Ginza district, will be hosting "TERRENE," an exhibition of works by Albert Yonathan, one of Indonesia's leading young artists.

Albert Yonathan is an artist who creates ceramics using clay. He creates all of the components of his works by hand, without using any templates. This notable young artist was selected as one of the Indonesian Pavilion's representative artists at the 2013 Venice Biennale, at the youngest age, and is currently participating in "Sunshower," a group exhibition of contemporary Southeast Asian artists, currently being held at the National Art Center, Tokyo and Mori Art Museum.

The exhibition, titled "TERRE," which comes from the Latin word for earth (terra), will feature approximately 10 works, including installations using ceramics that have received high praise overseas, as well as videos, drawings, and new projects currently in progress. Regarding the exhibition, Alberto Jonathan said, "The central objective of this exhibition is to explore the relationship between opposites, such as the material and the intangible, the mundane and the spiritual."
