Japanese confectionery shop HIGASHIYA is once again releasing a limited-edition "Osechi Sweets" (¥20,000) perfect for the New Year.
Next year's zodiac sign is the dog. The zodiac sweets are inspired by the "obi-iwai" (belt celebration) ceremony, in which people wear a belly band on "Dog Day" to pray for safe childbirth. The sweets are also inspired by the dog's zodiac sweets. The 12-tiered box contains a variety of sweets, including vegetable and fruit confections like simmered burdock in syrup, candied lotus root, simmered black beans, chestnut dumplings, and persimmon-coated confections, as well as fresh rakugan (rakugan) shaped like sea bream, konpeito sugar, white yokan (sweet bean jelly), and specially designed bite-sized confections, all of which are perfect for special occasions, with the hope of bringing about many happy events.
The set is available at the HIGASHIYA GINZA man online shop. Pre-orders are accepted from September 28th to December 13th, with in-store pickup and delivery available until December 31st.
