
There's been a lot of buzz about the World Cup this week. In honor of the Samurai Blue, who have impressively qualified for their fifth consecutive World Cup, we bring you our regular weekend outing tips!
First, let's introduce a much talked about event that has just started.
■ Vivienne Westwood Aoyama 10th Anniversary Event "CHAOS"
Location: Vivienne Westwood Aoyama Store (5-49-2 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo)
Inside the store, dresses and shoes from past collections will be on display. Don't miss the rare photographs tracing Vivienne Westwood's history, as well as the video interview in which Vivienne talks about her own history, creations, and business. The event runs until June 9th.
■Daido Moriyama Photo Exhibition "1965-"
Location: Gallery916 (6th floor, Suzue 3rd Building, 1-14-24 Kaigan, Minato-ku, Tokyo)
Admission fee: 800 yen
This photo exhibition features a selection of 70 works from Moriyama's career spanning from 1964, when he became independent as a photographer, to the present day. The exhibition was curated by photographer Yoshihiko Ueda. A photo book titled "Daido Moriyama" (916Press & Akaaka Art Publishing, 3,465 yen) has also been published to coincide with the exhibition. On sale until July 20th.
■Motoko Kusanagi descends on Shibuya. "Lumine Man x Ghost in the Shell Arise"
Location: Lumine Man Shibuya (1-22-11 Jinnan, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo)
A collaboration event with the popular anime "Ghost in the Shell Arise" is currently being held at Lumine Man Shibuya. Ahead of the film's theatrical release on the 22nd, original artwork panels are on display inside the museum. Posters of the new robot "Logicoma" wearing items from eyewear shop JINS and men's bag brand Masterpiece Product are also on display. Until July 11th.
■ "Beginning a New Life" by designer Mikya Kobayashi, who is attracting attention both from Japan and abroad.
Location: Nippon Form, 4th floor, Living Design Center Ozone (3-7-1 Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, Shinjuku Park Tower).
An exhibition featuring new furniture and products by interior designer Mikya Kobayashi is currently being held. More than 50 products, mainly new works, are on display and for sale, including Karimoku furniture "HARU," Fuji Furniture from Tokushima Prefecture "nagi," products created in collaboration with woodworkers from Asahikawa, Hokkaido, and his latest product "Timbre." Until July 30th. Incidentally, Kobayashi is such an avid soccer fan that he even designed his own soccer ball. So, we've put together some World Cup-related information. ■Exhibition of World Cup-themed posters created by Keith Haring, Basquiat, and others Location: 8/ ART GALLERY/ Tomio Koyama Gallery (8th floor, Shibuya Hikarie, 2-21-1 Shibuya, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo) The 2014 World Cup Official Poster Project exhibition has begun. 23 artists have created posters themed around soccer and Brazil. Joining internationally renowned artists such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, and Jeff Koons is Hideaki Kawashima from Japan. Each work is limited to 2,014 pieces and can be purchased. The exhibition runs until June 17th. ■ Dunhill's Japan National Football Team "Game Day Uniform" Location: Alfred Dunhill shops nationwide Alfred Dunhill's "Japan National Football Team" suit, priced at ¥199,500, went on sale on April 27th. The lining features the Japan National Football Team emblem, the Yatagarasu. Shirts, ties, belts, and more are also available. Why not try feeling like a national team player? ■ Cruciani C's Samurai Blue Bracelet is a Huge Hit Cruciani C's newly released Samurai Blue lace bracelet, a supporter item for the Japan National Football Team, is extremely popular.
