"Ice and Rain Sounds," the latest film by screenwriter and director Matsui Daigo, who served as the main director of TV Tokyo's Drama 24 "Byplayers: What if Six Famous Supporting Actors Lived in a Share House," will be released. The film's costumes were designed by young fashion designer Keisuke Yoshida.
The main teaser visual features six middle and high school students with varying levels of acting experience: Beni Ama, Totsuka Jotaro, Tanaka Reiko, Morita So, Tanaka Ito, and Aoki Yuzu. This coming-of-age film depicts the struggles of a small town caught between reality and fiction, film and theater. Regarding his involvement in the costumes, Yoshida commented, "I usually design fashion because I am irresistibly drawn to the emotions of adolescents, when you can't tell whether they're happy or sad, and their struggles. Matsui is also irresistibly drawn to adolescence, and she faces that moment with special emotion, and I completely empathize with that attitude. The scene on set, where Matsui's strong emotions and the eight adolescents clashed earnestly and passionately, was truly fleeting, and filled with incredible rawness. I wanted people to see and feel each person as they are, so although there was really only a little I could do, I created the styling with a conscious effort to bring out the charm of each individual. I think that time, where I was able to be involved in 'Ice and Rain Sounds' and share such incredible passion, was extremely valuable." The film also stars the two-person hip-hop band MOROHA, who provided the music, and Toshikige Tsuyoshi, the actor and director of the film "Goodbye Debussy." The film is scheduled to be released in early spring 2018 at Shibuya Eurospace and other theaters.
