Roger Vivier launches Japan-exclusive model at Shinjuku Isetan pop-up; Ines de la Fressange also visits Japan

Aug 24, 2017

From August 30th to September 5th, Roger Vivier will be holding a pop-up event, "BELLE VIVIER - THE PARISIAN BEAUTY," at The Stage on the first floor of the Isetan Shinjuku Main Building. The event will feature the "Belle Vivier," the house's iconic shoe with its timeless square buckle. Known for being worn by actress Catherine Deneuve in the 1967 French film "Belle de Jour," directed by Luis Bunuel, this shoe is a symbol of Parisian style. The event will feature an exhibition of the original model worn by Catherine Deneuve, stored in the house's archives, as well as the latest collection, including new shoes featuring a large square buckle similar to the original model. In addition, there will be an advance sale of the limited edition "Belle Vivier," available exclusively in Japan. The "Belle Vivier" limited edition features bold colors evoking a 1960s vibe and a Mondrian-inspired design with a white body divided by black lines. This shoe epitomizes the origins of the buckle shoes designed by Monsieur Roger Vivier for Yves Saint Laurent's Mondrian collection. Two styles, each available in two colorways, will be available. The event venue will feature an installation by French artist Jean-Paul Goude, recreating the glamorous presentation space from the Paris Collection held in March. Additionally, creative director Bruno Frisoni and house ambassador Ines de la Fressange will be in attendance from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on September 2nd.
