On July 5th, FENDI presented its Fall/Winter 2017-18 Haute Couture collection by Karl Lagerfeld and Silvia Venturini Fendi at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris. The theme for this season was "Flowers from Another World," from the moment a flower buds into full bloom. The collection began with a symbolic "Spring" look, highlighted by vibrant colors. The look then gradually transitioned to the austere, otherworldly "Winter," where exotic vegetation blended with the Maison's craftsmanship and delicate fabrics created a romantic transformation. Evening dresses featured flowing silhouettes, often featuring layered capes or budding swells at the shoulders and waist. Delicate and charming flowers, such as irises, daisies, crocuses, and poppies, are indistinguishable from the real thing and are inlaid with three-dimensional inlays or woven into leather over glitter lace and metallic jacquard. Luxurious furs, such as mink, sable, and lynx, are also transformed into delicate floral designs, creating dreamy accents on dresses and coats. Motifs reminiscent of Post-Impressionist paintings further enhance this dreamy worldview. Among the most striking pieces are a mink coat featuring hand-painted landscapes and a cocoon poncho, each crafted by hand from countless pixelated elements sewn onto silk organza. Pale pink and pure white dresses, which appeared toward the end of the show, feature supple lines created by pure crochet and raschel lace, while downy fur accents hint at a journey into the next season. The enchanting floral world is also reflected in bags and shoes. The flower pot-motif clutch bag was decorated with colorful fur stamens and leather leaves, and was a gorgeous design large enough to cover the hands. Smooth suede pointed-toe mules adorned the feet. Available in a variety of colors, including purple, blue, red, and coral, the uppers were adorned with blooming fur and suede flowers, accentuating the chic colors.
