Sebastian Masuda transforms Claude Monet's works into "KAWAII" installation exhibition now being held in Ginza

Jul 26, 2017

Art director and artist Sebastian Masuda, who opened the 6%DOKIDOKI shop in Harajuku and created the art for Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's "PONPONPON" music video, is holding his first installation exhibition in Japan, "Point-Rhythm World - Monet's Microcosm," at the Pola Museum Annex in Ginza, Tokyo, until September 3rd.

The exhibition title, "Point-Rhythm," is a portmanteau of "pointillism," which means pointillism, and "rhythm." Using Claude Monet's "Water Lilies" (1899), a work from the Pola Museum of Art's collection, as his motif, Masuda Sebastian has reconstructed a new world of Monet through his unique pointillism using approximately two tons of colorful materials.

In addition, an exhibition combining VR (Virtual Reality) ART and transparent LCD screens is planned to further expand the worldview of "Masuda Sebastian x Monet," creating a venue layout where visitors can enjoy a worldview that mixes the real and the unreal.

In the window on the first floor of the Pola Ginza Building, a display of Masuda Sebastian is also being displayed in conjunction with the gallery exhibition.
