Mykita x Mark Borthwick art book, limited to 99 copies worldwide

Jul 15, 2014

MYKITA will release an art book (priced at ¥28,900) by photographer Mark Borthwick.
Borthwick has been collaborating with MYKITA for six years, and this time, he shot the book on the volcanic island of Lanzarote, surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. Friends, family, and models gathered on the island, creating unconventional images of nature in the stark landscape of black beaches, rocky cliffs, and halophytes. All shots were taken with an analog Leica camera, and the prism effect created by overexposing the film is Borthwick's signature style.
33 sets of each of three photographs will be released in a limited edition of 99 books worldwide. The backs of the photo prints are signed and numbered by Borthwick. The book will be available at MYKITA SHOP TOKYO in Shibuya, Tokyo, from mid-July. London-born Borthwick is a photographer, filmmaker, and musician. He rose to prominence in the 1990s with his avant-garde fashion photography, which has been featured in magazines such as Purple and i-D. In recent years, he has collaborated with Mike Mills, Chan Marshal, and Chloe Sevigny.
