MYKITA and Damir Doma have collaborated for the first time, resulting in the stylish round eyewear "DD01.A construction."
The combination of cold stainless steel coated with gold, platinum, and graphite with the warmth of natural buffalo horn echoes the "Collage" concept of the Spring/Summer 2013 collection shown in Paris in October this year. Regarding the design's emphasis on structural beauty, MYKITA CEO and Creative Director Moritz Kruger said, "Openly exposing the structure of glasses reflects MYKITA's fundamental design approach."
This eyewear is a fusion of Damir Doma's attention to proportion and texture, inspired by art and architecture, and MYKITA's technology and sense. Doma said of the collaboration, "From the beginning, our goal was to take a traditional shape and modernize it, creating something iconic."
The glasses also feature traditional ZEIS lenses. They come with a high-quality leather case with a special strap, so they can be worn as an accessory by attaching them to a belt.
From spring 2013, they will be available at all Mykita shops, Damir Doma's Paris flagship store, select eyewear shops, and fashion stores. Prices are 136,500 yen (graphite), 147,000 yen (gold), and 157,500 yen (platinum).
