On July 24, Unimat Caravan Co., Ltd., the dining division of the Unimat Group, opened the restaurant and bar "THIRTY SIX California Cuisine & Bar" (9th floor, Unimat Aoyama Building, 2-12-14 Minami-Aoyama, Minato-ku, Tokyo). It's the revival of the restaurant and bridal establishment "Aoyama Laputa Garden," which closed in December 2012, after a renovation. Located 34 meters above ground on the building's rooftop, the bar offers panoramic views of Tokyo's nightscape and the Jingu Gaien fireworks. The restaurant's open-air location is themed around an "urban resort." "There are few restaurants open late in the Aoyama area, so we wanted to create a new spot for adults to enjoy," says Unimat Dining PR Director Miyuki Mitsunaga. The restaurant's interior features an outdoor pool attached to the terrace, with 110 seats in the restaurant and 94 seats in the bar lounge. The bar, decorated in black, has a stylish lounge with a chandelier, as well as terrace seating by the pool. Meanwhile, the restaurant has a classic, woody interior with a white base, and there are window seats where you can dine while watching the night view. The furniture in the restaurant is all from Cassina ixc, a luxury Italian furniture brand handled by the Unimat Group.
The menu is California cuisine based on traditional Italian and French cuisine, with an arrangement of pesticide-free vegetables and fresh seafood. Appetizers include "Tuna Tartare with Yuzu Fragrance, Square Style" (1,800 yen), "Snow Crab Cakes with California Mango Sauce" (1,200 yen), and main courses such as "Herb-Boiled Grilled Spare Ribs with Cajun Spicy Sauce" (3,600 yen), and A5-rank "Mie Prefecture Horisaka Farm Matsusaka Beef Sirloin" (200g/9,400 yen, 300g/13,000 yen). (Prices listed do not include a 10% service charge or tax.) Wines and champagne will be available to accompany the dishes, and the bar will employ a bartender to offer a wide selection of cocktails. The restaurant is open from 5:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and the bar lounge is open until 2:00 AM. The average customer spend is expected to be 10,000 yen per meal. A chapel is scheduled for completion next month.
