Sochi Olympic snowboard gold medalist Podragochkov becomes Akris Punto advertising model

Jul 31, 2014

Sochi Olympic gold medalist Iouri Podladtchikov appears in the 2014-15 Autumn/Winter advertising campaign for Akris Punto, a daywear collection from Swiss brand Akris. This season's theme is snowboarding. Feminine yet unexpected functional pieces are worn by female models with relaxed yet active looks. A photo print featuring Iouri, the first male model to appear in an Akris Punto advertising campaign, focuses on winter sports. Creative Director Albert Kriemler commented, "Iouri is highly focused and seeks to identify trends and developments in the sports world. His playful yet dream-chasing attitude is similar to our approach to Akris Punto." Iouri also commented, "I respect Kriemler's creative work and achievements. This shoot has inspired me to develop my own artistic side."

Yuri is 25 years old and originally from Russia, but currently lives in Switzerland. At the Sochi Winter Olympics, he fell on his bottom in the first run of the men's halfpipe snowboarding competition, but landed a spectacular move in the second, beating out Japan's Ayumu Hirano and Taku Hiraoka to win the gold medal. In the fall of 2014, he began studying art history at the University of Zurich, aiming to improve his photography skills. He is currently sharing his photographs on his Tumblr.
