Burton provided the U.S. snowboard team's patchwork American flag uniforms for the Sochi Olympics.

American snowboarding equipment brand Burton Snowboards (hereinafter "Burton") will provide the official uniforms for the U.S. Snowboard Team at the Sochi Winter Olympics, which begin on February 7th. The designs feature a patchwork quilt texture.

Burton will provide technical outer jackets and pants, as well as beanies, gloves, base layers, and fleece. This marks the third time that the brand has provided uniforms for the U.S. Snowboard Team through a partnership with the United States Ski & Snowboard Association (USSA), following the Turin Winter Olympics and the Vancouver Winter Olympics. Burton founder and CEO Jake Burton stated, "We've created a design, fit, and style that best represents the sport of snowboarding and America."

These uniforms are centered around a handcrafted patchwork quilt and the American flag, with a focus on expressing American tradition. Burton developed a material for the outerwear based on a vintage quilt found at an antique quilt market. They also developed a method for printing exact replicas of quilts and vintage American flags onto the jacket fabric, resulting in a texture resembling hand-sewn patchwork. The pants are also made from corduroy, a material central to American fashion history. Chief Creative Officer Greg Darkishen said, "We've created a completely new uniform that defies the formal and conservative designs common in most uniforms." He added, "The combination of the jacket's vintage quilt and flag print and the corduroy pants evokes a hippie vibe and a laid-back snowboard vibe, while also paying homage to the American creative tradition."
