■ "New New" by Ohtake Shinro

Otake Shinro made a stunning debut in the 1980s and, since moving his base of operations to Uwajima, Ehime Prefecture in 1988, has continued to produce works full of undiminished energy to the present day.

This book is a long-awaited publication of the catalog for "New New," a large-scale solo exhibition focusing on new works, held at the Marugame Genichiro-Inokuma Museum of Art in Kagawa Prefecture in 2013. Large-scale installation works created since 2011 are collected on large sheets, while collages and drawings, oil paintings, and texts are compiled in three different sized booklets. A DVD featuring footage of the actual exhibition space is also included. In this way, paper and digital media of different sizes and formats are bound together in one volume with a removable file clasp.

The resulting volume seems to overturn the very concept of a catalog, fitting for the solo exhibition "New New," which overwhelmed the exhibition space with works of every medium, from drawings, collages, watercolors, and oil paintings to installations, sound, and video.
