Yves Saint Laurent's new foundation is a hit. A new concept liquid powder

Mar 31, 2015

Yves Saint Laurent Beauté's new foundation, Teint Ancre de Peau (25ml/6,500 yen), released on March 6th, is selling briskly. In the UK, a waiting list of 12,000 people was created prior to its release. In Japan, sales are three times higher than the brand's previous foundation release last year. Teint Ancre de Peau combines the smoothness and radiance of a liquid foundation with the ease and long-lasting power of a powder. Its design is inspired by ink, which evaporates over time, leaving only the pigment. The smooth, liquid foundation transforms into a powder as the oil evaporates. It forms an ultra-thin veil that adheres securely to the skin. The surface remains feather-smooth, maintaining a beautiful, long-lasting finish. Furthermore, the pigment is micro-coated to prevent fading over time. Another feature is that it does not use the lasting polymers used in conventional long-lasting foundations. Instead, it is designed so that only the pigments and hybrid ingredients—lipophilic actives that adsorb sebum and transform into a gel, and hydrophilic actives that absorb sweat—remain on the skin. This allows it to protect the skin from sebum and sweat-induced breakdown without feeling thick or heavy. Available in seven colors to match the skin tones of Japanese women. The tapered applicator, inspired by a quill pen, allows for smooth application without dripping. The bottle design is inspired by Yves Saint Laurent's signature style, "Le Smoking," featuring satin black and straight lines reminiscent of the lapels of a tuxedo jacket. It embodies Saint Laurent's philosophy that "fashion may fade, but style is eternal." To celebrate the release of the items, a party was held at ACT Square in Ebisu on March 11th. The event was attended by 250 people, including model Sunmi and actress Saki Seto, as well as other celebrities, models, and bloggers. At the makeup dresser where people could try out the new foundation, comments were received such as, "It's smooth even though it's a liquid," "It's light and stress-free," and "It has a thin coverage."
