A party celebrating the release of the exhibition catalogue, "RETURN OF THE RUDEBOY," will be held on March 26th at BOOKMARC, a bookstore run by MARC JACOBS.
Rudeboy is a street culture created by young Caribbean people who immigrated to the UK after World War II. It is Jamaican slang for "bad boy." A symbol of 1960s cool, it was revived in the late 1970s and 1980s with the rise of punk and new wave, in the style of British ska and two-tone. It has since become established again. Last year, the "RETURN OF THE RUDEBOY" exhibition was held in London, where Dean Chalkley and Harris Elliott showcased a bold new rudeboy style. This catalog is being published for the first time to coincide with the Japan tour of the "RETURN OF THE RUDEBOY" exhibition, which will be held at Laforet Harajuku from March 20th to 26th. Photographer Dean Chalkley and creative director Harris Elliott will be visiting Japan for the party, where they will hold a signing session and DJ set. Dean, who served as curator of the "RETURN OF THE RUDEBOY" exhibition, is a UK-based photographer and filmmaker. He has worked on numerous music album and magazine covers, and is also active in various fields, including music production. Harris, on the other hand, is a creative director, stylist, and designer, and is known for his ability to blend style and culture. He has worked on projects that combine Jamaican and Kingston culture with the Olympics, styling musicians, and directing collections in Tokyo.
