On March 4th, Shinjuku Isetan remodeled and reopened its living/baby/children's floor, and on the same day as the grand opening, a floor show combining dance and fashion was held to commemorate the occasion.
The show was directed by Nakasone Rino, a dancer and choreographer active in the global entertainment scene. She created the show together with co-director Takenaka Fuko. Nakasone has previously participated in world tours with Britney Spears and Gwen Stefani, and has appeared in music videos for many international artists, including Avril Lavigne and Rihanna. Her recognition in Japan has grown through her choreography for K-pop artists such as Girls' Generation and TVXQ, and her diverse activities now include a career as a TV personality. Upon receiving the offer, Nakasone commented, "I was delighted to be able to incorporate dance as an entertainment element into a department store fashion show. Dancing in a shopping venue like Isetan was a new endeavor for me. Because it was a performance inside a department store, the story of the performance begins with the 'everyday' of shopping. The intention was that inspiration is brimming in the everyday, often overlooked aspects of life." The show was divided into three parts, held on the 1st, 3rd, and 6th floors. It started on the baby and children's floor on the 6th floor, when music suddenly began to play and the kids' dancers appeared. The dancers, selected through auditions, wore apparel from brands like Diesel and PCI, available on the same floor, and performed energetic dance moves to songs by Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5. Nakasone also appeared on the 1st and 3rd floors, accompanied by female dancers. Many customers stopped in their tracks to watch the stunning performance by dancers dressed in fashions from brands such as ANREALAGE and FACETASM. Nakasone said, "Personally, I value meeting people, and I love meeting people. I would like to take advantage of various opportunities, including this fashion show, to meet and connect with lots of people through the dance I love."
