Yohji Yamamoto's "Discord" releases limited edition silver washi bag woven with Nishijin fabric

Mar 27, 2015

Discord, the accessory brand created by designer Yohji Yamamoto, will release "Pomme de Terre Grande" (248,000 yen).

This limited-edition bag is made from silver-leafed washi paper cut to millimeters. It is then woven into thread using the Nishijin weaving technique, a tradition passed down in Kyoto for 1,500 years. The unique texture of the woven fabric creates a three-dimensional form. Only 10 editions will be sold worldwide, and in Japan, it will be available at Yohji Yamamoto's Aoyama flagship store, Isetan Shinjuku store, and a limited-time shop at Matsuya Ginza.

During the limited-edition bag's sale period, Discord will open a pop-up shop in a special venue on the second floor of Matsuya Ginza. The first 30 customers to purchase a product will receive a limited-edition canvas bag. The bag features the Discord logo on the front and the Yohji Yamamoto logo on the back, and its chic design makes it suitable for both formal and casual wear.
