Yohji Yamamoto's "Discord" second season explores imperfect beauty through form

Yohji Yamamoto will release the SS15 collection, the second season of its luxury accessory brand, discord, which launched last spring, on January 9th.

Discord debuted at the "NIPPONISTA" pop-up shop held by Isetan Mitsukoshi in New York in February of last year. The brand name, which means "dissonance" in English, symbolizes designer Yohji Yamamoto's aesthetic of imperfection and asymmetry. The brand incorporates the delicate Japanese sensibility that finds beauty in imperfection and instability, along with the high quality of Made in Japan, into bags, shoes, accessories, and more.

The new collection focuses on "shape," based on the brand's esprit, the "exploration of imperfect beauty." The new shapes of the items, created based on the shape of the wearer, are further emphasized by the use of monochrome colors. It will be available at the 1st floor of the main building of Isetan Shinjuku (pre-sale from December 26th), Yohji Yamamoto Aoyama flagship store, and Fukuoka Iwataya.

In addition, Yohji Yamamoto Aoyama flagship store will be holding a special exhibition of a big bag using Sony's electronic paper from the 9th. The thin display sewn into the leather bag changes color from white to black and back to white every time voltage is applied, and the brand logo and floral motifs appear.
