Photographer David Bailey's solo exhibition "STARDUST," sponsored by TOD'S, opened on March 1st at Milan's PAC (Padiglione D'Arte Contemporanea, the Contemporary Art Pavilion). Bailey was born in London in 1938 and has captured a variety of eras through his photographs, including portraits of artists and famous people and documentaries on places like Sudan.
The highlight is the corner just inside the exhibition. Fashion lovers will be delighted with portraits of Yves Saint Laurent, Tom Ford, and John Galliano. You can see fashion legends with various expressions, such as Alexander McQueen jumping in a kilt and Karl Lagerfeld running in the 1980s. Other works on display include photographs of legendary figures in the fields of art, music, and entertainment, including Nobuyoshi Araki, Brassaï, David Bowie, Queen, the Rolling Stones, Salvador Dali, and Andy Warhol, showing unusual expressions. Still lifes of human bones, a series of photographs of unusual men, and works taken with a cell phone camera all demonstrate the depth of Bailey's expression. The opening event held the day before was attended by Tod's Chairman Diego Della Valle, Women's Designer Alessandra Facchinetti, Men's Designer Andrea Incontri, and, as it took place during Fashion Week, many fashion insiders attended, including sisters Carla and Franca Sozzani, Suzy Menkes, Marcelo Burlon, and Anna Dello Russo.
