Shinjuku Isetan introduces AI-powered app "SENSY"! Future plans include incorporating it into humanoid robots

Sep 3, 2015

Starting September 16th, Isetan Shinjuku will launch an "AI customer service" utilizing the AI-powered fashion app "SENSY" provided by Colorful Board Co., Ltd. As part of this project, the store has been showing a promotional video for "SENSY" since August 26th.

"SENSY" is a free fashion app equipped with AI, jointly developed with Keio University and Chiba University. Users can categorize clothing from partner brands entered into the app as "likes" or "dislikes." The AI then learns their fashion sense and suggests products that match their preferences. The app is affiliated with over 2,500 fashion brands, and the "Sense Link" feature allows users to access the fashion sense of celebrities, such as models and stylists. Users can also access the e-commerce site where they can actually purchase the products they select. The "AI customer service" service utilizes "SENSY," installed on the store's own smartphone or tablet, where sales staff can analyze customers' preferences and offer personalized recommendations. According to a store representative, "In the future, we hope to install "SENSY" on humanoid robots and digital signage, creating a new style of shopping where customers can 'shop while consulting with AI.'" Currently, a promotional video for "SENSY" is being shown in the West Park on the second floor of the main building and in the International Creator section of the Men's Building. Starting September 16th, a service will be available in the promotional space on the first floor of the Men's Building where customers can experience "SENSY." More than 30 brands will be linked to "SENSY," and a collaborative project with the magazine "SENSE" is also planned. Starting October 28th, a service offering coordination suggestions based on products on the second, sixth, and seventh floors of the Men's Building will be available. Also on the ladies' floor, from September 16th, a joint project between the magazines SPUR and SENSY called "SPUR MUSEUM - Inside the Mind of Fashion" will be held.
